Why this exists

Estate planning is outdated, stuffy, confusing, slow, and intimidating. For most families it never gets done, and a lot of the plans that do get made fail when they're finally needed, in the worst week of a family's life.

We think it can be better. So we sit down with the lawyers who do this every day and ask what a family would ask if they knew what to ask: what does this cost, what can go wrong, how do I know it will work. And we question the status quo: why is it done this way, why is it this hard, what would you change if you could.

Who is asking

Rob Atkinson is not a lawyer, and never claims to be. He's a curious consumer who spent the last six months studying estate planning obsessively, and he asks the questions families don't know to ask. If a family would want to know it, he asks it.
